Correction: Yesterday I referenced an apology to Annie Leibovitz. I was apologizing for attributing the book Bird by Bird to her instead of Anne Lamott. Quick aside — why wasn’t I apologizing to Anne Lamott too? Anyways, it turns out that I was actually thinking of Anne Geddes, i.e. the inspiration for ((baby + fruit OR veggie) = amazing photo). So I am just going to blanket apologize to all three, Annie L, Anne L and Anne G. Let’s pretend this never happened.
I’ve been learning to code. It feels pretty great to understand how something works that I didn’t understand before. I had an epiphany of sorts while I was out mowing this morning and thinking about coding:
Coding is the language for creating software.
As I thought about this new language I am learning, I also thought about things I could create with this new language. There is still RLRKE. I’m also interested in Bonk Doc and I am actively coding that project. This morning I also started thinking about a project called Executive Influencer. More on that in the future.
As I pondered these projects and my knowledge of coding language (which is admittedly still limited), I had another epiphany:
Why did someone give me $13 million to run a software company? I could not even speak the language of software.
Seriously, that is crazy. I raised $13 million in venture financing for my last company, which happened to build software. So coding was pretty damn important. And yet I couldn’t read code at all.
The way the world actually works always, always amazes me.
Weird.
